Happy journey… my little buddy.
Monday, October 19, 2009 16:28Saturday.
I’m very busy preparing the meal for our makan-makan. About 10.30 a.m, I started cleaning the piggies cages. As usual I start with Loopey’s cage first. He is a Peruvian so he needs the bathing more frequently.
After finish with him, I continue with the second cage… the ladies cage. I saw Tiko laying so strange with her eye open. I open the cage and she is still not moving. Usually they will running around and make noises begging for their greens every time I put my hand inside their cage. Well that’s not a good sign.
I pick Tiko’s body out of the cage. Her body was dead limp. Fortunately she’s still alive, still breathing. I call Iqbal and tell him what happen. Then I check on the other 2 ladies, Ketto and Choki, they’re still hiding inside the dome. When I pick up the dome both of them still able to walk but visibly weak. I burst into tears, I feel very guilty because didn’t check on them earlier.
Ibu suggest we bring them to the vets. It’s Deepavali. So we get inside the car and hoping the vets open. We went to the one at pekan Balakong, and it’s OPEN! I’m glad Malaysia is multiracial county! Deepavali is for the Indian, the vets clinic was open because the vets is Chinese. So guys, please be glad we’re multiracial country.
The piggies are getting weaker. Tiko and Choki cannot move anymore, just lay still but breathing. I don’t want to look at them because I cannot hold my tears even I look away. Thank goodness there were cute dogs, so I can think of something else but still I cannot hold my tears.
Our turn finally came. The vets took out Choki and Tiko. Looking at him I knew guinea pigs were not a frequent case for him. Not his fault, most people only brings cats and dogs to vets. He check on their stomach, hear their heartbeat using cute stethoscope and asking few questions including whether or not I touch any rabbit and then touch them. I said no.
The vets excuses for a while. I heard him talking with a friend on the phone asking about the condition, and of course I don’t know what the friend was telling. Minutes later he came back and gave the piggies a jab each. They still able to scream, I thought it was a good sign. Oh yes, he changes the needle for each piggy, that’s good. He honestly told me that he cannot guaranty that it was the best med for the condition but he suggest I also gave Loopey the liquid med he gave. I have no choice but to agree with him and praying for the best result, at least we try to save them all.
About 1 pm, our guest start coming until night. But every 1 or 2 hour I checked on them. Tiko was placed in different cage because apparently her condition is the worse. Before go to bed I fed the ladies with chopped tomatoes and gave them drinks with little syringe.
Sunday.
Tiko and Ketto seem like getting better. They started eating hays. Choki didn’t show much improvement. I feed them the liquid from the vets using syringe. Loopey gets a dose as well. At noon I leave them, had to go to my brother’s house.
Got home late that evening. Tiko and Ketto are getting much better. Saw them starts eating pellets. But Tiko still weak and no improvement on Choki. Fed Tiko and Choki with chopped tomatoes. Choki only took a few bites then she resist. But she drinks quite a lot from syringe.
About 10.30 pm I check on them again. Choki getting weaker. I put her on my lap and I found that she had muscle shivers. Tried to feed her tomatoes but she resist but she still want to drink water from syringe.
I took old cloth, and bring her to my room. I know it is not good to bring ill pets to bedroom but I want to make sure I can check on her anytime. Besides, she didn’t smell odd or having any bad discharge. Only some mucus from her nose. I have to clean it to make sure she can breathe well. Gave her another dose of the med. I slept beside her and wake up few times to feed her mash tomatoes and water.
Monday.
No improvement on Choki. Bring her out after Bal go to work. Honestly I don’t know what else to do since the jab and the liquid didn’t do her any better. Since last night I kept telling her, “please eat some, how to get better if you don’t want to eat”. I just hope she can understand what I say. I hug her as close to my chest. She had muscle shivers more frequently and urinates. If she’s not ill I’ll poke her butt, but this time I don’t mind.
I hope she knows I love her so much. I want her to know she cherish my life for almost 10 month of her life and I thank her very much. For what I know, cats avoid dying in front of their human. I thought maybe guinea pig want to do the same. So I put Choki inside separate cage and I leave her. I go to my room and I sleep… yes I sleep.
At about 11.15 a.m, I check on Choki and found her lay still with no sign of breathing. Her hands and legs spread out, reminds me of my rabbit which died when I was a kid. I took her out, touch her chest… no heartbeat. Her mouth cramp and inside the mouth pale already.
“Ayah… dah mati yang sekor ni.”
“Oo.. tadi masa balik dari kedai macam hidup lagi, tapi macam dah teruk jugak. Nak tanam sekarang?”
“Boleh jugak.”
Yep, no burst of tears. Watching them already dead is easier then watch them dying. I’m sad, but I believe she knows we tried our best to save her. We buried her in front our house, under coconut tree.
Choki was the gentlest lady among the three. I don’t remember she ever bites me. Rest in peace Choki. I believe there will be no Judgment Day for you. So wherever Allah would place you, I hope you will have a happy journey… my little buddy.

[...] Aku ada kerja2 yang perlu diselesaikan, tapi kenapakah susah benar mahu tumpu perhatian. Rasa macam nak buat sesuatu tetapi apakah? Gambar anak sedara aku kat atas tu agak menggambarkan mood aku sekarang. Rasa serba tak kena, tengoklah dia menopang dagu siku tergantung. Nampak tak selesa. Begitulah aku rasa sekarang. Mungkin masih dalam tempoh pasca kehilangan Choki. [...]
